The board members of Sober Grad Nite, Inc. are honored to have served Grand Valley youth for over 15 years, offering a safe and fun alternative graduation party for over 13,000 graduating seniors (and their guests) every May since 1999. As such, it is with mixed emotions that we announce we have made the difficult decision, as a board, to dissolve Sober Grad, Inc. this year.
The remaining seed money in the Sober Grad, Inc. budget, donated by Taco Bell and Pepsi upon the organization’s founding in 1998, will be donated to a Grand Junction area non-profit that also serves youth, yet to be determined and announced by the board.
We take this opportunity to thank the many community partners and business donors who have supported Sober Grad over the last 15 years, as we could not have executed the event at such a high level without their support. We would like to expressly thank Taco Bell and Pepsi for initially funding and creating Sober Grad; Mesa Mall for hosting the event for 14 years; and the City of Grand Junction’s Two Rivers Convention Center for graciously hosting the event in 2013. Special thanks also go out to our media sponsors, as well as long time major sponsors City Market, US Army, School District 51, and law enforcement partners including the Grand Junction Police Department, Grand Junction Fire Department, Mesa County Sheriff, and Colorado State Patrol. Lastly, we truly appreciate the many event volunteers and board members who helped make the Sober Grad event possible for 15 years, thank you again for your time and effort!
We look forward to seeing how Sober Grad Inc.’s donation to the community will make a positive impact on area youth, and we plan to make an announcement on our website and Facebook page when the decision on how to distribute these funds is finalized.
It has been a great run, with over fifteen years of fun, and many fond memories. Thank you again for your support!
